Smoothie King and Walk-On Franchisee to Headline Entrepreneurship Conference at College of Business

Louisiana Tech University alumnus Sean Cangelosi will kick off the College of Business Entrepreneurship Lecture Series on Thursday, October 13 at 4 p.m. in Davis Auditorium (College of Business 101). This free event is open to the public.

Cangelosi is a two-time graduate of the College of Business, earning a degree in Computer Information Systems in 2000 and an MBA in 2002. He owns several Smoothie King locations and recently became a franchisee for Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.

“I’m confident our students will be inspired by Sean’s entrepreneurial journey that began right here in Ruston,” said Dr. Chris Martin, Dean of the College of Business. “This series of lectures is important because it addresses one of the main academic themes of our College: entrepreneurship. I am grateful to Sean for sharing his insights to deepen what our students are learning in the classroom. »

With a focus on the College’s core academic themes of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, extracurricular programs, like the Entrepreneurship Lecture Series, are designed to complement and expand on what students learn in class. Topics cover a variety of core business topics such as ethics, corporate responsibility, leadership, globalization, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, technology, innovation and diversity.

Cangelosi will also meet with members of the College’s Entrepreneurial Living Learning Community to answer their questions, offer advice and encourage them to pursue their own entrepreneurial journey.

Now in its third year, Entrepreneurship LLC offers freshmen of all majors the opportunity to live, learn, and participate in activities focused on entrepreneurship. In addition to mentorship by visiting entrepreneurs and C-level lecturers, LLC members participate in joint classes and live in the same residence hall to build community and further develop the collective entrepreneurial spirit of the group.
