Professor Kenneth Goodpaster publishes “Conscience, Corporations, and the Common Good” – Newsroom

In September 2022, Springer Publishers published Emeritus Professor Kenneth Goodpaster’s new book, Times of Insight: Conscience, Business and the Common Good, as part of his Eminent Voices in Business Ethics book series. The book is designed for students, scholars and the general business community.

About the book: Goodpaster critically reviews its nearly 50 years of teaching and research in business and applied ethics. He identifies four insights into applied ethics: moral insight, institutional insight, anthropological insight, and Socratic insight. And in the process, it highlights concepts such as conscience, corporate responsibility, shareholders, stakeholders, global moral thinking, and ethics education. Additionally, Goodpaster explains expressions such as teleopathy, moral projection, human dignity, and the common good. The book uneasily examines the implications of the above for polarizing and partisan tendencies in contemporary corporate behavior. The book is available in both print and open access versions made possible with support from Opus College of Business. The open access copy of the book is available in St. Thomas.
