As of January 1, 2022, Roman Waschuk will assume the position of Business Ombudsman.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, on December 9, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the decision of the Supervisory Board of the Business Ombudsman Council to elect a new business ombudsperson. Roman Waschuk, Canadian diplomat, Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine in 2014-2019, will assume this position as of January 1, 2022.

The development of entrepreneurship and the creation of favorable business conditions remain key priorities for the government. Congratulations to the newly appointed Business Ombudsman and we look forward to continued fruitful cooperation with the Business Ombudsman Council to improve the business climate in Ukraine, ”said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
One of the main tasks of the Business Ombudsman Council is to prepare proposals on state enterprise policy for government agencies, provide recommendations to improve the work of these government agencies and self-government bodies local area in order to improve working conditions.
As reported, in its six years of activity, the Business Ombudsman Council has reviewed around 10,000 complaints from businesses about abuse by government agencies and has helped businesses recover more than UAH 19.5 billion.
As indicated, the Business Ombudsman Council was created at the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy in December 2014 to ensure systematic and effective communication of businesses with government agencies and local self-government bodies, as well as with public or subordinate enterprises. The Business Ombudsman Council is a permanent advisory body of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
