Local News: Booking Sikeston Park facilities can now be done online (2/11/22)

SIKESTON – Those looking to book Sikeston Park facilities now have the option to do so online.

Sikeston Parks and Recreation recently started using Bookeo, a booking software designed for online facility reservations. Bookeo allows users to view a master calendar of all available booking dates and processes payments at no additional cost to the user or the city.

Sikeston Parks and Recreation Director Dustin Care recently told Sikeston City Council that the process for booking a Clinton Building park shelter is to call the Parks and Recreation office and speak to Olivia Roberts, who manages the reservation.

“We get a lot of phone calls about prices and availability of rooms to rent or shelters,” Care said. “After extensive research, we found that Bookeo would be a viable option for us.”

Thanks to Bookeo, users can now consult a main calendar and make a reservation for the Clinton building and the park shelters by visiting www.bookeo.com/sikestonparksandrec which can be accessed on the Sikeston Parks and Recreation Facebook page and the Town of Sikeston website for information on the Clinton Building at https://www.sikeston.org/departments/parks/clinton_bldg.php.

Care said there is no additional charge for online booking.

“It will help alleviate a lot of phone calls,” Care said. “We want to try to be more user-friendly and make this information more available. The best thing about it is that you will be able to see a main timeline.

To reserve the Clinton building through the Bookeo website, deposits must be paid at the time of booking or the user will not be able to reserve the building.

“You have to at least pay the deposit to reserve it,” Care said. “It won’t last, even for a day. You will receive reminders up to 30 days, and it is part of our policy, that your rent must be paid in full 30 days before.

Per Parks and Recreation’s cancellation policy, full payments must be made 30 days prior to the reservation date or the reservation will be automatically cancelled. The full rental agreement is available for review at time of booking. All hut rentals must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Care added that they will receive notifications when something is booked online and calendars are synced so there is no double booking.

“There’s also a comments section if anyone needs to contact us with special accommodations,” Care said.

Those who do not wish to book online can still go through the current process.

“We will remain available for phone calls, questions and other matters; however, we encourage everyone to email or call us to communicate. Care said.

To contact Parks and Recreation, call 573-475-3723 or email Olivia Roberts at oroberts@sikeston.org for general information, program information and reservations or Dustin Care dcare@sikeston.org for any issues installation. If someone from the service is not available at the time of your call, Care has advised you to leave a detailed message to ensure a return call and someone will get back to you within business hours.

Residents can also keep up to date with any event changes or cancellations by visiting our Facebook page.

Users can also sign up for Parks and Recreation programming using the website.

“It helps to have one website to meet everyone’s needs,” Care said.
