Finance minister urges business community to donate to PM relief fund for flood victims
Finance Minister Miftah Ismail urged the business community to come forward and donate to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of flood victims.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lahore on Saturday, he said every penny of the donations will be spent directly on those affected by the floods in a transparent manner.
The finance minister said the country has seen unprecedented destruction due to flooding in all sectors including agriculture, livestock and infrastructure, and everyone must play their part for the noble cause.
Speaking on the economy, he said the government is committed to addressing the issues of the business community, especially the exporters.
He said the government will continue to provide an enabling environment for exporters to increase the country’s exports.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Nauman Kabir said the business community stands with the government for the welfare of the flood victims.
He said LCCI will establish a village of 150 houses to rehabilitate flood victims. He said the village will have a veterinary hospital and solar power and other facilities.
