DUANESBURG – State and federal agencies are investigating a fire on Monday afternoon at Pyrotechnics by the Grucci factory, which manufactures entertainment and military explosives.
No one was injured in the fire that broke out at the facility along Old Dare Road around 3:52 p.m., state police said.
The fire is still under investigation, police said.
A representative for Grucci did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The company operates eight facilities around the world, including several located in the United States. Grucci, a family-owned business, currently holds two world records for the world’s largest fireworks display and pyrotechnic image, according to the company’s website.
The Delanson site is the company’s primary research and development facility and produces “innovations to meet both entertainment and military explosives demands,” according to the company’s website.
“They also support the manufacturing operations of the Grucci Pyrotechnic by Grucci, Inc. manufacturing business located at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, Va.,” The website says.
On Tuesday, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed it was investigating the incident.
“ATF, in cooperation with New York State Police, Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC), and Schenectady County, are investigating a fire and explosion that occurred on 3/12/21 in l ‘Pyrotechnics by Grucci facility located in the town of Delanson, NY, “the agency said in an email.
Schenectady County Fire Coordinator Scott Pike did not immediately return a request for comment.
