In order to manage the more than one million square foot facility, Amazon advertises hundreds of part-time and full-time jobs at the site starting at $15.50 per hour. Hiring will be in phases (weekly) as shift schedules are released.
The City of Visalia said it still expects employment at Amazon’s second warehouse in Visalia to be around 500 and could grow as this regional distribution facility supplies more geographies.
“It’s promising to learn that Amazon’s new facility is one of only three newer such facilities nationwide,” said Devon Jones, Visalia’s director of economic development. “I think this clearly demonstrates the unique and strategic characteristics of our location for such businesses. It is therefore promising not only for the 500 new jobs expected from this center, but also because of the hundreds, if not thousands, of additional jobs that the other developments expected in the industrial park of Visalia will bring as new tenants will discover Visalia. We are very lucky to have many speculative industrial developers active at Visalia such as CapRock, Diversified Development Group, YS Industries, Seefried, G4 and many more.
