After a good portion of 40 years at the helm of AMSM Group, the organization for the distribution of daily consumer goods to the grocery and restaurant sectors, Alec A. Mizzi left the position of CEO and rose to a new position of Executive Chairman where he will continue to be involved at a strategic level. He will now focus more on his other role as Alf. Chairman and CEO of the Mizzi & Sons group.
The new CEO of the AMSM group is Steve Apap Bologna, who joined the group as sales and brand director in 1992, was promoted to senior sales director in 2001 and became general manager in 2006. He is a veteran at within the group, thus ensuring continuity.
Commenting on this after a company-wide announcement, Mizzi said, “I consider it important that I move on, as part of our rejuvenation process. I am proud of what we have achieved over the past four decades, taking us into the preeminent role of leading distributors in the FMCG sector by far, with an incredible range of brands, and now with a presence in Cyprus too. I know Steve will take over with drive, determination and enthusiasm. “
Also commenting after the announcement of his new role, Apap Bologna added: “I am honored to have been appointed CEO and Director of the Board of Directors. I will strive to maintain the same high standards of professionalism, business ethics and ambition. It will be business as usual.
